A traffic accident on Highway 11 may cause delays this afternoon for our bus routes. There is one-lane Traffic in the Volcano Bound lane near the Shipman Industrial area. Please expect delays in drop off times.

Kamehameha Schools Hawai'i will continue to use the Pahoa Marketplace as a bus stop until such time that it is no longer safe to do so. According to the Hawaii County Civil Defense message for Sunday morning, their "assessment shows that the flow front and south margin breakout remain stalled and there has been no advancement since Friday."
Should the flow reach the Marketplace, making our Pahoa Bus Stop unusable, Kamehameha Schools has decided to use the Wikiwiki Mart at Orchidland as our furthest stop. Hawaii County Police reporting that Highway 11 is closed in one-lane in the area of Kulani Road. Please expect delays due to traffic congestion.

At 6:33am, Akita Enterprises notified us that the R3 Ka'u Bus had a breakdown just outside HVNP. One bus has been dispatched from Ka'u to pick up kids from the disabled bus. Another bus has been dispatched from their base yard and is heading to Volcano Store to continue the run. The Main Gate and both Dining Halls have been notified.
Estimated delay is 30-45 minutes for riders on the disabled bus. Estimated delay is 15-20 minutes for Volcano to Kurtistown riders. |
